After 31 years in the United States, I find myself more American than I ever expected to be, yet not so American in many ways.

Ice cream flavors
I've blogged in the past about an unusual icecream flavor available locally. Here's the board listing the flavors available at an icecream parlor in downtown Bar Harbor. Do you see any unusual ones?
I was intrigued by the "Maine Survivor" flavor so I looked it up and apparently it's vanilla ice cream with a fudge swirl, chocolate chip cookie pieces and peanuts. It sounds absolutely delicious but calorie and cholesterol laden, hence the "survivor" bit I suppose! :)
We're going to Maine in a few weeks, so I can't wait to try a 'Maine Deer Sign'. Hope it comes with antlers. Avocado ice cream is big out here, and doesn't taste nearly as bad as it sounds!
Matty - I'm pretty sure all the ice cream flavors listed on that sign are calorie and cholesterol-laden - not much to choose between them in that regard. They did have some low-fat and fat-free options. The 'kids' cone' is always a good option for a smaller (i.e perfectly adequate) serving of icecream.
Ali - I would totally try avocado icecream! Does it have almonds in it like asparagus ice-cream?
Maddy - yes, I always have to stand there forever before I make my mind mind up. I was tempted to ask for the "I'm not sure yet" - I never did ask what flavor that actually was!
Anthony - yes, far more crisp flavors in the UK - and more yogurt flavors too. That always surprises me, given how Americans seem to love choices!
Love this. so much fun just to read across the list. :) HUbby is always overwhelmed by the amount of choices in the US he often says "I liked it better when the choices were take it or leave it". and then he lets me decide for him.

I'm still overwhelmed whenever presented with that much choice.
Took me a while to figure out why they call it Moose Tracks.
They seem to go crazy for ice cream flavors in the way we do with crisp flavors.
