One of my favourite TV shows as a kid:
Tony Hart and Rolf "Can you see what it is yet?" Harris both made art look so easy!
"Jim fixed it for me!" - another cultural reference that DH doesn't get!

After 31 years in the United States, I find myself more American than I ever expected to be, yet not so American in many ways.

I preferred the one hart on his own with the assistance of Morph and Chas. Hart Attack? Something like that.
Art Attack. I used to love The Gallery, how they presented kids art as if they were great exhibits. You'd sit at home with your siblings going, oh that's good, she's only 7, I could do better than that etc like some sort of budding art critic. When Tony Hart died last year I read some of his obituaries and he sounded like such a lovely man. Ah the role models of the 70s!
When Tony Hart died earlier this year, I was devastated. He (and Rolf) were such a significant part of my childhood. Thanks for finding these clips!
So, did you ever write to Jim'll Fix It? I did ... a couple of times. The first coz I wanted to climb the pyramids of Egypt and the second to meet Wham! He never fixed it for me on either account!! Loved the show though!
I loved this show...and I married a Brit and we both moved to the US so at least we can spend our later years laughing over the same British tv shows and BOTH get the jokes and the memories.
I remember being on holiday in London when I was little (about 10) and we saw Rolf walking along in the street. He was obviously in a hurry but took the time to smile and wave at us from over the road. Consequently my three American kids know all the word's to his songs as we have Rolf's Greatest hits.
Sunrise; Tie Me Kangaroo Down; The Court of King Caractacus etc.
A friend and I wrote to Jim'll Fix It. We addressed our letter 'Dear Jim'll' which we thought was very funny!
