They put WHAT in the chocolate chip cookies?

A couple of years ago, I wrote about the local asparagus ice cream. This week I had another interesting culinary experience. Chocolate chip cookies laced with . . . no, nothing illegal, but definitely strange. Take a look at the photo below and see if you can figure out what it is. I'm still trying to think why anyone ever thought this was a good idea. They weren't bad, but I don't think I'd order them again. Looking online, I was surprised to find quite a few recipes for chocolate chip cookies that include this extra ingredient.

Bacon!
They were . . . OK. Don't think I would order them again. DS was inspired though - decided that if bacon can go in chocolate chip cookies, then maybe it would be OK to make chocolate chip omelettes. Hmm - I think not!

Oh, bacon goes well with everything.

One week at the children's museum the cooking class was garlic macadamia cookies. With maple syrup. They were surprisingly edible, so long as you didn't think about what they were.

What is this about bacon everywhere? When I was in the States in April we were told we must try chocolate with bacon bits in it. All I got out of it was a need to floss. I love bacon, and I love bacon and maple syrup, but Im not sure I need it in my chocolate chip cookies.

PS I remember the asparagus farm post!

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure if that sounds tasty or just plain nasty. I love bacon and I love chocolate, so why not?

Ever heard of Mo's Bacon Bar? Good stuff :)

I was going to say avocado, until I read your comment saying bacon. Sounds disgusting, I have to say. But Americans are much more used to mixing savoury and sweet than we Brits.

In the toy store where I work, we had a box of bacon flavoured lip balm on the counter, but I don't think it sold very well.

We love our bacon in Minnesota. When I was home last year for the Minnesota State Fair I had to visit the Big Fat Bacon stand. Yes, folks....it was just a thick slab of bacon on a stick!

OMG are you serious! Our local Taco Mayo is advertising Bacon Burritos these days and I don't even fancy those. You'd think they could get some decent bacon if it's going into all and sundry these days!!

It looks really good to me! I'm not a fan of cookies but this looks very inviting. Maybe it's because it looks more like a cake/muffin that it does a cookie. Either way, I like it!!
