After 31 years in the United States, I find myself more American than I ever expected to be, yet not so American in many ways.

Time warp?
We left the USA on July 31st for a 2 week vacation in the UK. We returned yesterday to find that it is apparently almost Halloween already as the supermarket had a whole aisle dedicated to Halloween candy and decorations and there was an aisle of pumpkin ales at the liquor store. Apparently we missed the whole 'back-to-school' season!
Oh great. The Queenager was giving me an earful before we came to England. She said we should go out Back-to-school shopping then, rather than wait till we get back to Chicago (next week). There's nothing worse than a teenager who was right all along.

I was trying to buy one or two late supplies yesterday, and the section in Walmart wasn't there any more.
Roll on Christmas!
It's not that I won't be able to find the items DD needs for school, but I'm annoyed I missed getting them while they were on sale :-(

Make sure you hit the stores by the end of September or you'll miss the Christmas season completely.
I feel your pain...I cannot find soccer boots anywhere!!!
